Fifteen general-purpose metadata terms — creator, date, title, subject, rights and friends — reused inside RSS, RDF and publishing formats alike.
xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/"Dublin Core is the most widely reused metadata vocabulary in XML. It shows up inside RSS and RDF feeds, publishing formats, library catalogues and repository exports, usually to supply an author or a date the host format lacks.
RSS feeds commonly use <dc:creator> for a byline because RSS 2.0's own <author> element is specified to hold an email address.
