XML namespace

XSL Formatting Objects

The paged-media vocabulary used by FO processors for page masters, flows, blocks, tables, inline content, and pagination properties.

xmlns:fo="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Format"

Every formatting object — root, layout-master-set, page-sequence, flow, block, table, and inline — uses this namespace, conventionally through the fo prefix. The output is normally generated by XSLT rather than authored directly.

Formatter vendors add extension namespaces for features the W3C vocabulary does not standardize. Keeping those separate distinguishes portable FO properties from engine-specific instructions.
