The identity-bearing half of SAML: assertions, issuers, subjects, conditions, authentication statements, and attributes.
xmlns:saml="urn:oasis:names:tc:SAML:2.0:assertion"An Assertion binds statements to an issuer and subject for a limited audience and time window. Authentication statements describe the login event; attribute statements carry claims such as email, role, or department.
The URI identifies SAML 2.0 assertion elements but does not make their content trustworthy. The service provider must validate the signature and every contextual restriction before consuming a claim.
